For me, respectful care begins by recognising women as protagonists and active subjects of their rights and decisions. As professionals, our role is to accompany and support them through knowledge, experience, a holistic and integrative perspective, and scientific evidence.
Professional profile
Alba Crespo has been a clinical midwife for twelve years and currently works in the High-Risk Obstetrics Unit at Hospital Universitari Vall d’Hebron.
Her career has focused on women’s integral health, combining clinical practice with training, participation in hospital committees and work in areas such as breastfeeding, perinatal bereavement, citizen participation and respectful care.
She has training in Sex and Couples Therapy from the Universitat de Barcelona, as well as in pelvic health, exercise and biomechanics, and has taken part in volunteering and cooperation projects.
Objectives during the secondment period
- To deepen the qualitative analysis of midwifery students’ experiences of respectful care.
- To learn about and compare models of midwifery education and obstetric care in Norway and Spain.
- To contribute to the development of useful resources for teaching and clinical practice.
