The European project IPOV Respectfulcare has been featured in the international journal Archimetra in its issue #08, titled La rottura delle membrane | Oltre i dogmi assistenziali. This edition, available in both digital and print formats, addresses the challenges of midwifery care from a salutogenic perspective, combining science, culture, and practical tools for the profession.

IPOV Respectfulcare: Raising Awareness on Obstetric Violence in Europe
The article, written by the IPOV project itself, with Patrizia Quattrocchi as the principal investigator, explores IPOV Respectfulcare as a pioneering initiative in the fight against obstetric violence at the European level. Funded by the European Union, the project’s primary goal is to raise awareness and prevent obstetric violence by creating tools for awareness, training, and support for both healthcare professionals and users.
The article details how IPOV Respectfulcare promotes respectful care during childbirth, emphasizing autonomy and human rights, and highlighting the importance of preserving birth physiology as well as women’s mental and emotional health.
This marks the first collaboration between IPOV and Archimetra, opening a space to share the project’s activities. In this issue, the origins and objectives of the project are presented. In the following pages, experts traveling across countries and continents to share experiences and knowledge will tell their stories.
In the next issue, Anna Maria Rossetti, SEAO representative in IPOV Respectfulcare and guest for one month at the Hospital Materno de San Isidro in Buenos Aires, Argentina, will share her experience.

Archimetra: A Journal for Transforming Obstetric Care
Archimetra, directed by Anna Maria Rossetti, has become an international reference platform for critical thinking and the transformation of midwifery care. Each issue follows the model of the Sens of Coherence of salutogenesis, with sections dedicated to cognitive orientation, practical manageability, and the profound sense that motivates the renewal of perinatal care.
The inclusion of IPOV Respectfulcare in the Senso Profondo (profound sense) section underscores the value of this initiative in rethinking care models from a biopsychosocial and feminist perspective, aligned with the principles of salutogenesis.

Towards a Respectful and Evidence-Based Care Model
The presence of IPOV Respectfulcare in Archimetra #08 strengthens the commitment of the European midwifery community to eradicating obstetric violence. The article invites healthcare professionals, researchers, and activists to join this collective effort to ensure care that respects the dignity, autonomy, and physiology of women and birthing people during childbirth.
