“Prevention of Obstetric Violence: A Feasible Path Through Healthcare Team Transparency”
On 8 April 2024 at 16:00, Seminar Room 235 at the Faculty of Psychology, University of Granada, will host a session focused on the role of transparency within healthcare teams as a realistic pathway to prevent obstetric violence.
The seminar will be led by Silvina García Conto, an Argentinian lawyer and researcher specialising in the prevention of obstetric violence, whose work has helped advance a rights-based and ethical approach to maternal care.
This activity is organised within the framework of IPOV – Respectful Care (International Platform on Obstetric Violence & Respectful Care), a Horizon Europe MSCA Staff Exchange project that brings together universities, hospitals and civil society organisations from Europe and Latin America. IPOV aims to document and analyse obstetric violence, promote respectful maternity care and strengthen legal, ethical and public policy frameworks through international cooperation.
During her IPOV secondments, Silvina García Conto will carry out several dissemination activities, including seminars, discussions with students and healthcare professionals, and collaborative sessions with local research teams to share legal, bioethical and policy perspectives on obstetric violence. This seminar at the University of Granada is part of that programme of activities.
